Welcome to My Style Scoop! If you are a family member, a friend, or just happened to stumble upon us by chance, we are so glad you are here!
My Style Scoop came about after a terrible, horrible, no good, and very bad summer in 2016. I tore my ACL jumping at a trampoline park with my kids, and had to have surgery to completely repair my knee. It was miserable. I cried everyday for a month. I’m not talking sniffles here, but body shaking sobs that had my husband with one finger on speed dial to the nearby mental institution. It was definitely a rough couple of weeks.
Soooo, you’re thinking, “what does this have to do with style and scoop?” Well let me tell you.
Before the knee incident, I was plugging along trying to be just like every other fashion blogger. I was even trying to keep up with the really BIG ones too. I was shopping all the time, buying stuff that I didn’t believe in, and then turning around and returning all of it after a photoshoot. I was constantly stressed out with posting images on Instagram to have content and to grow in numbers so I could make money off this “stuff” I was buying and returning. I had turned into a big fat LIAR and in the end had lost the reason and joy for why I had started all of this to begin with. I had lost my authenticity trying to be like everyone else. I had lost me.
During my recovery and hiatus from blogging and social media, I took a long hard look at everything. What was I supposed to learn from this unintentional break from the world of fashion? I started looking at things from the outside in and how the retail world has changed.
And it just clicked.
As style influencers, we shove the “NEW” in peoples faces and never really show them what to do with the “OLD” that we just told them to buy last week. Our readers have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear because it’s not as good as the new arrivals that just hit the doors of our favorite stores.
I asked myself “am I really influencing someone’s personal style or am I just trying to sell stuff to make money”? The world certainly doesn’t need one more fashion blogger telling women what to buy (there are some good ones already doing that), but maybe the world could use a little more knowledge of how to wear what they already own.
And just like that, My Style Scoop was born.
Our primary goal is to be a one-stop-shop for all things fashion related, but also to focus on teaching you how to build a versatile wardrobe. We will offer hand picked, affordable, on trend pieces that you can buy from our site, but the best part is you will be able to see multiple ways to wear each and every one. It’s like buying a top and getting the stylist for free!
We want you to add new pieces to your seasonal wardrobes, but we want you to feel confident about the purchases you do make. We will style pieces with items we already own (gasp) and of course tell you where you can find them if you want to purchase something similar.
So who is this “we” you ask?
Meet the fabulous, Nicole Sindle.
You can also find her here dishing weekly on her favorite fashion finds. Nicole started wardrobe styling professionally in 2016, but she’s been helping friends and family for several years before then. She’s the young sprout of this duo and has incredible style.
And there is me. I’m Jackie.
I’ve been styling closets throughout middle Tennessee since 2010. My passion is helping women find their inner style no matter what their budget is.
Each week we will take turns sharing our individual style using pieces from the Scoop shop as well as other retailers. You will only see brands we truly believe in and we won’t sell you something just because we received free products or a paid collaboration. You will get true authenticity with outfit inspiration from two points of view and tons of ideas!
So welcome to “our” Style Scoop and we hope that what we provide becomes YOUR happy place to get all your fashion scoop!
