Welcome to My Style Scoop!
Our goal here is to be a one-stop-shop for all things fashion related, but mainly to focus on teaching you how to build a versatile wardrobe. We offer hand picked, affordable, on trend pieces that you can buy from our site, but the best part is you will be able to see multiple ways to wear each and every one.
It’s like buying a top and getting the stylist for free!
We want you to add new pieces to your seasonal wardrobes while feeling confident about the purchases you’ve made. We will style pieces with items we already own (gasp) and of course tell you where you can find them if you want to purchase something similar. Our hope is that YOU will come here to learn how to wear items multiple ways, find inspiration in your own closets, and maybe pick up something special along the way.
Growing up in an upscale Dallas neighborhood set the tone for my love of fashion. I lived in a single-parent home and money was tight. I wanted the same brands and designer labels that my friends’ parents could afford, but had to do so on a budget. I worked everyday after school and used my paychecks to build my wardrobe. Fashion books and magazines were my go to for inspiration and helped pave the way for creating my own personal style.
My passion continued into college at the University of Alabama where I double majored in fashion design and retailing. With two internships under my belt, I moved to New York City after graduation and started a career in the garment industry. For the next ten years, my resume included retail giants such as Macy’s, Sak’s Incorporated, and Fossil.
I “retired” so to speak after the birth of my first daughter and moved with my husband to Middle Tennessee to enjoy life as a stay at home mom. Even though I left the fashion industry, it never really left me. I kept one foot in the door, and for the past 7 years I’ve worked part time as a personal wardrobe stylist and fashion blogger sharing wearable trends to like minded women.
I took an unintentional break from blogging and wardrobe styling after suffering through a painful surgery in the summer of 2016 to repair a torn ACL. After really looking at the retail industry as a whole, I decided it was time to make a change and My Style Scoop was born with the help of my partner Nicole. Our mission is to help make getting dressed simple and effortless for you!
So we hope you follow along, stay for awhile and get all kinds of scoop for your wardrobes.
Since I was a little girl I have been intrigued by fashion. Keeping up with the latest trends led to styling my friends for any and every occasion. From school dances and job interviews, and now onto weddings, I have enjoyed adding a little extra fun and sass to their lives!
While attending the University of Tennessee, I studied Fashion Merchandising and Business Administration, was a cheerleader, and a member of Phi Mu. During my time in Knoxville I was fortunate to study abroad in Italy where we explored design houses such as Missoni and Gianvito Rossi, experienced market in New York, visited The Tobe Report, and gained valuable experience working for the luxury handbag company, Coach.
After graduation, I moved back to Nashville and went to work for LEONA, a high-end women’s contemporary line, holding offices in both Nashville and New York. Working closely with the owner and designer, I learned the ins and outs of how a retail brand is run from start to finish. During this time, I was introduced to Jackie through mutual friends. We immediately bonded over our love of fashion and sharing it with others! She helped guide me to my career as a stylist, which I can’t thank her enough for! Working with clients and helping them to feel good about who they are and how they look is my true passion. No matter how big or small, how practical or “just for fun” a styling need is, I am here to help!
I tied the knot in June 2015 with a stunning Nashville wedding. As a recent bride, I have a passion for the industry and understand it is equally important to look perfect for each and every event leading up to your big day! Find out more about bridal styling services on our styling page. My husband and I currently live downtown in the heart of Nashville and enjoy all the city has to offer. You can follow my stylish journey through my personal blog, Nicole-Alexander.
